Dennis Wade Drinkard, Sr.

Dennis W. Drinkard Sr., a lifelong resident of Appomattox, Virginia, passed away at his son’s home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 1, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanette; and his parents, Inez and Aubrey Drinkard.

Dennis is survived by his son, Denny Drinkard, and his wife, Jackie; his daughter, Denise Drinkard; his grandson, Cody Drinkard, and his girlfriend, Maddie; and his granddaughter, Candice Drinkard, and her boyfriend, Bryant. He is also survived by his sister, Dale Wells; his brother, Benny Drinkard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was a lifetime member of Mt. Comfort Church of Gladstone, VA. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family, making sure they were always cared for and never went without. He retired from GE after 25 years of service and from Griffin Pipe after 15 years. While at Griffin Pipe, he served as a past Vice President of the United Steelworkers, where he represented and supported his fellow workers. Dennis served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves.

A man of many interests and accomplishments, Dennis was the former owner of Triple D Charolais Farm. He was also a member and former Governor of Appomattox Moose Lodge 975 and a Master Mason within the Masonic fraternity at Monroe Lodge 301.

Dennis will be remembered for his love of dancing and karaoke. One of his favorite songs to sing was “Purple Rain,” and those who knew him will cherish the memories of his joyful spirit, his voice, and the happiness he brought to others.

He leaves behind a family he loved more than anything and many friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, strength, and unforgettable presence. Dennis never met a stranger, and his warm, welcoming spirit made everyone feel like family. He adored his grandchildren—taking endless delight in their laughter, cheering on every milestone, and cherishing the simple moments spent together that brought him his greatest joy. He was deeply proud of his children and their accomplishments, knowing he had raised them well and helped guide them toward successful lives.

The service will be held 11am, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Mt. Comfort Church in Gladstone, Virginia with Pastor Wyatt Cudd and Rev. John Flood officiating.

The family will accept visitation after the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at his son’s house in Pamplin, Virginia.
