Obituary

Delories Tanner Hopkins, 86, of Appomattox, died Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roy D. Hopkins, Sr.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on August 6, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Mable Johnson and William Tanner. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and was a retired office administrator for the Main Street Optometrists, Appomattox. For many years, Dot was the Appomattox donation liaison for the American Heart Association.

She is survived by two sons, Roy D. Hopkins Jr. and wife, Cindy of Appomattox and William H. "Billy" Hopkins and wife, Angie of Ala.; three daughters, Wanda Cifers and husband, Leo of Richmond, Linda G. DeNitto and Rick Lloyd of Forest, and Shirley G. Westrich and husband, Ron of Virginia Beach; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Elayne and Lemore Ross, a grandson, Chris Johnson; and two great grandsons, Bentley Kerr and Kylin Johnson.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Evergreen Baptist Church by Dr. Chris King. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
