Appomattox: David McNider Trent, 81, of Rt. 1, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born in Forest, VA, January 22, 1924, he was a son of the late Rev. David Gilliam Trent and Edna Maddox Trent. David was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. He was a member of the American Legion Post #104 and a past president and member of the Appomattox Jaycees. A US Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard the USS Commencement Bay. In 1989, he retired from Stackpole Components in Farmville.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred T. Trent; two daughters, Elizabeth T. Hill and Brenda T. Giles and her husband, John all of Newport News; five grandchildren, Russell Millner, Jr. and Michael Millner of Lynchburg, Eric Giles and David Giles of Newport News, and Elizabeth C. Hill of Richmond; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Tabb of Williamsburg and Elizabeth Marshall of Buchanan and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, the Rev. Lawrence Trent, I. G. Trent, E. E. Trent and Thelbert Trent and a daughter, Sandra Trent Millner.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bruce Johnson. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
