David Wayne Thompson

David Wayne Thompson, 64, of Concord, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at his residence. He was the devoted husband of his sweetheart, Joan Burleigh Thompson, for 43 years.

Born on October 26, 1961, in Halifax, VA he was the son of Dale Tuck and David Edward Thompson of Concord. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Madison Heights. David was an avid deep-sea fisherman and loved exploring caverns throughout Kentucky and Virginia. He cherished many years with his family at their vacation home in the Outer Banks. Rock ‘N’ Roll was one of his passions and he loved attending concerts with his girls. Working side by side with his wife in their vegetable garden was one of his greatest joys.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his three daughters, to whom he adored and was so proud of; Rachel Anne T. Bryant and husband, Caleb of Madison Heights, Rebecca Leigh T. Novakovic and husband, Bill of Lynchburg, and Jesse Leigh-Anne Thompson of Concord; four grandchildren, Kayden (14), Easton (6), Mason (3), and Will (six months); and three siblings, Gary Thompson and wife, Sandy of Rustburg, Mike Thompson, and Kim T. Gallaher both of Lynchburg.

A funeral service will be held 11am, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at New Concord Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jeff Worley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30pm, Monday, March 16 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
