Obituary

David Sylvester Nash, 81, of Airport Rd., Appomattox, died Friday February 18, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of late Marion DeJarnette Nash.

David was born in Appomattox County on October 10, 1929 a son of the late Willie Burks and Hunter Sylvester Nash. David was a 1947 graduate of Appomattox High School and was the retired President of DS Nash Construction Company and in the construction business for over 50 years.

He was a longtime member of the Virginia Road & Transportation Builders Association and served on its Board of Directors from 1981-83. David established Parkview Mobile Home Park in 1975.

He was elected to the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors in 1984 serving until 1991. During his tenure on the board he served on the Central Virginia Community Services Board and served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.

David was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Appomattox Lions Club; founding member of the Appomattox Moose Lodge, and a charter member of Falling River Country Club. He was a long term member of Family Motor Coach Association.

David started flying in 1968 at Falwell Airport & maintained his private pilot's license until 1988. He always enjoyed flying his own plane, traveling in his RV and operating a piece of heavy equipment.

He is survived by his children Gray S. Nash and his wife Donna and Jeanne N. Amos and her husband, James all of Appomattox; grandchildren, Jennifer Amos, Kaitlyn Amos, Jonathan Nash, Monica Nash and Melody Nash,; three brothers, Buford H. Nash and wife Janet; Binford B. Nash and wife Bessie all of Gladys and Paul T. Nash and wife Peggy of Lewis Center, Ohio; sister-in-law, Ernestine Hanna of Lynchburg and brother-in-law, William S. Wood of Rock Hill, SC.

A memorial service will be held Monday February 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Cheatham and the Rev. Henry Riley officiating.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home,Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M.
