David Elmo Baldwin, 73, of Bowler Creek Rd., Pamplin, died Monday, March 15, 2010, in Southside Community Hospital. He was the husband of Eileen Jones Baldwin.
Born in Charlotte County, December 27, 1936, he was a son of the late Cleve Willis and Laura Ferguson Baldwin. David retired from Archer Creek Foundry and was a member of Beale Memorial Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, Ken David Baldwin and Laura B. Coflin and husband, John all of Pamplin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Billie Jean Baldwin and Wade and Hallie Baldwin all of Pamplin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and Billy Chapman of Farmville and Eva and Dan Tolbert of Silver Spring, MD; three grandchildren, Jonathan Coflin, Heather Coflin Anderson and husband, Jeremy, and Olivia Baldwin; two great grandchildren, Gabrielle Coflin and Daniel Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Gracie Wilson, and Dorothy McFadden and husband, Wayne; brother-in-law, Lynn Jones and wife, Ellen; a dear friend, Dorothy (Cookie) Lair; devoted caregiver, Rhonda Mayberry and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Wiley, and Willis Baldwin and three sisters, Grace Buckman, Ann Lee, and Mary Ellen Hamlet.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 18, 2010, in Rocks Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Moore and the Rev. Gary Stoots. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
