Daphine Wells Moore, 89, of Appomattox passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023, at her residence. She was the wife of Lewis Edward Moore.

Born in Appomattox on November 6, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Royal W. Wells and Louise Phelps Wells. She was a member of Mount Comfort United Methodist Church. Daphine worked as a clerk for the Lynchburg Foundry and was an owner/operator for Betty Brite Cleaners of Lynchburg and Appomattox and Granny Bee's Restaurant of Appomattox.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Kendall Scott Moore and wife, Tammi of Lynchburg; ten grandchildren, Gessica Lynn Moore Wright and husband, Kevin, Eric Scott Moore, Karsen Nicole Moore, Brannon Lee Moore, Macy Louise Moore, Christopher Leighton Childress, James Stratton Childress, Heather Marrie Martin and husband, Cory, Ryan Constantine Glavas and wife, Page, and Janie Rebecca Sisk; six great-grandchildren, Camryn Martin, Caroline Wright, Kylie Martin, Whitney Wright, Brooks Martin, and Xander Glavas; two sisters, Loretta Drinkard and husband, E.B. and Wanda Powell and husband, Maynard, both of Madison Heights; a sister-in-law, Dale Wells of Gladstone; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Edward Wayne Moore, Gary Lynn Moore, and Brian Lee Moore; and two brothers, Royal "Buddy" Wells and Wayne Lee Wells.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, January 9, 2023, at Mount Comfort United Methodist Church with Rev. John Flood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
