Daniel Junior Slough, 82, of Red House Rd, Appomattox, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Betty Moore Slough.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on December 9, 1929, he is the son of the late John William and Katie Alberta Bowen Slough. He was an active member of Tree of Life East Ministries, was a US Navy veteran, and retired from Weather Conditioners after 30 years of service. Daniel successfully owned and operated his own business, Total Heating and Air, until he was 81. Daniel was deeply loved by his family, was respected and loved by his friends, and cherished as a dad by many.

In addition to his devoted loving wife, Betty he is survived by four daughters, Vanessa M. Conyers and husband Danny R. of Richmond, Rhonda S. Doss and husband, Steve of Appomattox, Roxanna S. Benedikter and husband, Butch of Lynchburg, and Christina S. Burton and Steve Purcell of Appomattox; a son, Danny John Slough of Appomattox; eight grandchildren, Aimee C. Martin, Jazelle M. McCormick, Joshua C. McCormick, Steven D. Doss, Jessica E. Slough, Bryce D. Burton, Jacob Farrar, and Dylan T. Burton; six great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Hobbs of Lionsville, AL.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Centra Hospice for their care.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Tree of Life East, Appomattox by Pastor Kenny Lawhorne. The family will receive friends at the home.
