Daniel James (Jimmy) Ortega, 61, of Pumping Station Rd., Appomattox, died Monday, May 27, 2013 in UVA Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Annis Ortega.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, on August 29, 1951, he was a son of the late Louis Lucero Ortega and Agnes Ortiz Ortega. He was involved in outreach ministry, reaching souls for Jesus.

Jimmy is survived by two sisters, Gloria Cox and Stella Wilson both of Appomattox and two brothers, Gilbert Ortega and wife, Naomi of LA Habra, Calif. and Lonnie Ortega and wife, Julie of Long Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis P. Ortega.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Thomas Terrace Baptist Church by the Rev. John Pickett, Rev. Dick Vannoy, and the Rev. Allen Caldwell. Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
