Daniel Pryor Cousins, 88, of Appomattox, died Sunday, August 27, 2023, at his residence. He was the husband of Loretta "Janie" Harris Cousins.

Born in Campbell County, Virginia, on June 21, 1935, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Frances Pryor and Robert Emmett Cousins. He served his country in the US Navy, was a graduate of Lynchburg College with a degree in Physics and completed the G.E. Manufacturing Program. During his career, Dan was employed by G.E. and Xerox. He was a member of Appomattox Court House Presbyterian Church, the Appomattox Lion's Club, and Blue Ridge Mended Hearts Chapter 16 Lynchburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Rebecca G. Cousins and David Harrold, Susan M. Cousins and Robert Bond, and Mary Lynn Cousins; daughter-in-law, Mary K. Cousins; two granddaughters, Tessa Cousins and Lauren Cousins; a sister, Grace May and husband, Chuck; a brother, John Paul Cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen P. Cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Appomattox Court House Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Carlos Malavé and Rev. Gene Beverly. A visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. A private family interment will be in New Concord Presbyterian Church.
