Curtis Alton Harris, 76, of Kimball Road, Concord, died Monday March 18, 2013 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Gladys Drinkard Harris.
Curtis was born in Appomattox County on November 10, 1936 a son of the late Ellen Doss and Curtis Dashwood Harris. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, founding member of Long Mountain Hunt Club, active in the Holy Bowlers for many years, and was a hunter, fisherman and sports fan. Curtis was retired from Old Dominion Box Company after 38 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Angela Bradley (Bobby) of Concord; Schre Shockley (Steve) of Evington; four grandsons, Justin Bradley (Kasey), Brandon Bradley (Katie), Jason Shockley and Eric Shockley; two great-grandsons, Carson Bradley and Walker Bradley; one brother, Eugene Harris (Carolyn) of Evington: four sisters, Shirley Hiser of Concord, Nadine Pulliam (Wayne) of Lynchburg, Barbara Austin (Don) of Concord, Janie Cousins (Danny) of Appomattox and a brother-in-law, Nelson Millner of Rustburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Millner.
A graveside funeral service will be held 4:00 P.M. Thursday March 21, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Chad Harris and the Rev. Frank Casper. The family will receive friends in Calvary Baptist Church 3:00 P.M. until the time of the graveside service.
