Curtis Lyle Eagle, Sr., 86, of Purdum Mill Rd., Appomattox, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Jeanette Goad Eagle.
Born in Appomattox County, October 8, 1923, he was a son of the late David William and Lula Godsey Eagle. Lyle was a member of Bible Baptist Church and retired after 36 years of service as a foreman for VDOT.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Curtis Lyle Eagle, Jr. of Buckingham; a brother, Julian B. Eagle of Appomattox; a sister, Alice Sale and husband, Charles of Madison Heights; two grandchildren, Pamela Sommers and Curtis L. Eagle, III; and two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Shelby Sommers.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Wiley, Bobby, Alfred, David, and Andrew Eagle and six sisters, Louise Phelps, Mary Bohannon, Elizabeth Jones, Edna Bettis, Dorothy Eagle, and Shirley Eagle.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Lee. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence at all times.
