Crystal Mae Herndon, 42, of Duke Drive, Madison Heights, died Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born in Lynchburg, on February 16, 1975, she was the daughter of James Edward "J. E." Herndon and the late Nancy Gunter Herndon. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church.

She is survived by her father, J. E. Herndon and his wife, Penny of Stonewall; two sons, Michael James Herndon and Cory Allen Herndon both of Madison Heights; two grandsons, Aden Lee Herndon and Brandon Harvey; Cindy Marie Doyle and husband , Michael of Amherst, whom she considered a daughter; a brother, Adam Martin Herndon of Lynchburg; step-sisters, Kelly Johnson of Chatham and Stacy Angus and husband, Scotty of Rustburg; aunts and uncles, Virginia Bondurant of Concord, Christine H. Moore of Stonewall, Sammy Gunter and wife, Mary, and Russell E. (Bucky) Gunter and wife, Martha both of Spout Spring; nieces, Samantha Jean Franklin, Rebecca Ann Franklin, Brooklyn Johnson, Jayde Angus, and Faith Doyle; nephews, Cameron Johnson, Damian Johnson, Drayke Angus, and Elie Doyle; special friends, Samantha Poe and Diane Klein; and numerous cousins and friends.

In addition to her mother she was as preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Verna Herndon and Bobby and Gloria Gunter and aunt and uncle, Barbara and Bill Brooks.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Hebron Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Walker and the Rev. Sammy Gunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of J. E. and Penny Herndon.
