Clayton William Cyrus Sr., 93, of Appomattox, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Clayton was born on April 18, 1929, to the late Arthur Ellis Cyrus and Elizabeth Agnes Mayberry. He was preceded in death by one son, Clayton William "Tator" Cyrus Jr.; six brothers, Alec, Ellis, Paul, Harry, Herbert, and Milton Cyrus; and seven sisters, Bertha Grishaw, Carrie Grishaw, Arvis Mayberry, Lucille Mullins, Bessie Mayberry, Mildred Mayberry and Dorothy Sweeney.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rosa H. Cyrus; son, Ronnie Cyrus and wife, Beverly; one granddaughter, Courtney Gunn and husband, Brian; and three great grandsons, Henry, Peter, and Robert.

Clayton was a very generous, giving person and had a special place in his heart for all children.  He enjoyed a long retirement from VDOT and spent many hours in his garden. He was a faithful longtime member of Reedy Spring Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the folks at Centra Home Health Care and Hometown Pharmacy for their help and care over the last few years.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service 11:00 am, Saturday March 18, 2023, at Reedy Spring Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Dan Davis. The family will receive friends at the home of Ronnie and Beverly, 2849 Cedar Bend Rd. Appomattox.
