Clarence William "Billy" Guthrie, Jr., 71, of Isbell Street, Appomattox, died Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Davis Guthrie.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, on July 5, 1948, he was a son of the late Estelle Pote Guthrie and Clarence William Guthrie, Sr. He was a US Navy veteran and member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Billy was employed for 42 years with Fred Jones Well Drilling and for many years was the sound and light technician for Country Adjustment Band.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry "Zeke" and Laura Guthrie; a granddaughter, Chloe Guthrie; two brothers, John Guthrie and wife, Debbie and David "Tadpole" Guthrie all of Appomattox; and his two canine friends, Jackson and Maddie.
Due to health concerns a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. There will be a register at Robinson Funeral Home for friends to sign on Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 9, Appomattox, VA 24522.
