Clarence Jay May
Red House: Clarence J. May, 94, of 1477 Hancock Rd., died Friday November 24, 2006 at his residence. He was the husband of Sarah Pentecost May.
Born in Guilford, N.C., September 11, 1912, he was a son of Oscar E. May and Bonnie Gilbreath May. Clarence was a lifelong member and former deacon of Providence Baptist Church, and at the time of his death he was the oldest member. He was a retired tobacco farmer.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Cecil May of Appomattox, two grandchildren John May and Adam May both of Lynchburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Wade, Paul, Roy and Ralph May and one sister Gertrude M. Carwile.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 26,2006 in Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. John Jackson and the Rev. Charles Gibson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sat. at Robinson Funeral Home from 5 – 7 pm and at other times at the residence.
