Minnie Christine Roberts Whitehead, 90, of E. Confederate Blvd., Appomattox, died Monday, December 10, 2007 in the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late James Breckenridge Whitehead.
Born in Concord, July 10, 1917, she was the oldest of eight children to the late James William and Mattie Kate Almond Roberts. Christine was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where for many years she taught Sunday school and was active in various church activities. Along with her late husband, she was a member of the Retreads Club.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold Breckenridge and Nancy Whitehead of Rustburg and James Clark (Boopie) and A. C. Whitehead of Lynchburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Vernon Scott of Hampton and Nancy and Mick Beane of Concord; eight grandchildren, Teresa Rowe, Tammy Maddox, Michael Whitehead, Jay Whitehead, Cynthia Miller, Robin Mayberry, Kelly McConnell, and Allen Dukes; 12 great grandchildren and her former daughter-in-law, Mary Cat Whitehead.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Landon (Billie) Whitehead; three brothers, James Roberts, Don Roberts, and Richard Roberts and two sisters, Jimmie Weeks and Doozie Webb.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. Ronnie Rogers.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m.
