Christine Herndon Moore, 88, of Concord, died Thursday, July 4, 2024, in Lynchburg Health and Rehab. She was the wife of the late Virgle Alton Moore.

Born in Appomattox County, VA, on November 3, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Verna Tweedy and James E. Herndon, Sr. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she has served as secretary, treasurer, Acteens leader, choir member and V.B.S.  Christine influenced the whole Stonewall community with her knowledge and her love for Christ.  She was the owner and operator of Herndon's Store in Concord.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Moore Doss of Concord; two great grandchildren, Elijah Allen "Eli" Doss and Isabella Abree "Izzy" Doss; a sister-in-law, Penny Herndon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Allen Doss; son-in-law, Glenn Allen Doss; two sisters, Virginia H. Bondurant and Barbara H. Brooks; and a brother, J. E. Herndon, Jr.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Hebron Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Walker and Pastor Sammy Gunter officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
