Christian Karl Schneider

Christian Karl Schneider, 88, of Spout Spring, VA was gathered to the side of his Lord on July 3, 2025. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15

Born in Winterthur, Switzerland on May 27, 1937, he was a son of the late Karl and Hanny Meili-Schneider and the husband of the late Deborah Fulton Schneider.

In addition to his mother, father and wife, Chris is preceded in death by his sisters Hanni Niederhauser, Ursula Merz, Margarethe Ernst, and Augustine Widmer and brothers Hans-Rudolf and Kaspar. He is survived by brothers Adrian, Frank, Martin, and Andreas, sister Barbara Kramer, a mother-in-law, and many brothers- in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews in both America and in Switzerland, all of whom loved him dearly.

Chris served honorably in the Swiss Army prior to moving to the United States in 1967. He was an engineer by education and trade, and retired as such from Belvac Machinery in Lynchburg, VA. After retirement, he spent his days devoted to his wife and in service to neighbors and friends with whom he had community. He loved the outdoors, whether it was climbing the Peaks of Otter on weekends, working his farm, or helping a neighbor. He was a critical thinker who often engaged on any given topic with those who had the pleasure of his company. He was fiercely loyal, full of big ideas, incredibly intelligent, and immensely industrious. He had an unwavering faith in God and Jesus Christ his Savior, a genuine love for his fellow man and a simple humility that resonated with anyone that had the honor of knowing him. He will be affectionately remembered and greatly missed.

A private family burial was held at the family cemetery. A memorial service celebrating Chris’ life will be held at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Watson officiating.
