Chris Walter Therkildsen, 80, of Tower Hill Road, Dillwyn, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy Therkildsen.

Born on August 16, 1932, in Roselle, NJ, he was the son of the late Chris and Anna Dixon Therkildsen. Chris was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church on the Dillwyn Charge and was retired from Crown Oil Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country in the Korean War.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, John A. Therkildsen and his wife Karen of Pamplin and Chris W. Therkildsen, Jr. and his wife Christine of New Jersey; three step-children, Marie Lewis and her husband John of Spout Spring, James R. Foster and his wife Lisa of Alaska, and Sally Collister and her husband William of Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, Erik, Dana, Jessica, and Kevin Therkildsen, Steven and Mark Lewis, Joshua, David, and Tony Foster, and Melinda Collister; two great-grandchildren, Vanessa Collister and Lucas Lewis; and one sister, Jean Zarauskas of Pennsylvania.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 37 years, Virginia J. Therkildsen and a sister, Esther Hartman.

The family will have a time of remembrance from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the residence.
