Cheryl Dawn Brooks McDearmon, 59, of Appomattox, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the beloved wife of C. Lewis (Lewbo) McDearmon Jr.
Born Sept. 12, 1947, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Richard Clarence Brooks and Mary Litchford Brooks Morris. Cheryl was a homemaker and a member of Appomattox Court House Presbyterian Church and the Appomattox Women's Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Patrick Lair of Appomattox, and Mac McDearmon of Richmond; two daughters, Ruth (Rudee) Lair of Lynchburg, and Cecelia M. Dicken and her husband, Jeff, of Marlton, N.J.; one brother, Frank Brooks of Lynchburg; two sisters, Linda B. Boothe and her husband, Larry, of Forest, and Scarlett B Davis and her husband, Tom, of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, T.W. Woody, Dakota Schmitt, Jessica Dicken and Jeffrey Dicken. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Alice H. Kelsey of Appomattox; former mother-in-law, Loee Wallis of Pamplin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Timmy Brooks and Rick Brooks Jr.; and her father-in-law, George Kelsey.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007, at Appomattox Court House Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Cameron Smith and the Rev. Mike Dodson. The family will receive friends immediately following service in the church fellowship hall and other times at their residence, 473 Lee-Grant Ave.
