Charles Stewart Shirey, 72, formerly of Spout Spring, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Salem Veterans Medical Center.

Charles was born in Lynchburg a son of the late Marie Stewart and Horace White Shirey. He was a member of New Concord Presbyterian Church and was employed by the Army Security Agency. He was a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by two brothers, Herbert L. Shirey and wife, Linda of Spout Spring; James E. (Jim) Shirey and wife, Ann of Arlington; sister-in-law, Amanda S. Shirey of Lynchburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene W. Shirey.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday April 10, 2014 at Robinson Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Roger Roller. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.

The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
