Charles Lindbergh "Charlie" Crews, 85, of Country Club Road, Appomattox, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Appomattox Health & Rehab.

Charlie was born in Appomattox County, October 2, 1927 a son of the late Eliza Matthews and Joseph Wadsworth Crews. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, WOW Camp #71, American Legion Post #104, Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Appomattox County Historical Society.

He served his country during World War II as a Military Policeman and was a retired Supervisor for B&W Naval Plant with 30 years of service.

Charlie is survived by two nieces, Jenny C. Steadman and husband, Ricky, Mildred C. Dunigan and her children; two nephews, Charles and Joe Crews all of Appomattox; two double first cousins, Warren Crews and his wife, Primrose of Concord, Marie Deutsch of Adelphi, MD and their children. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Wadsworth Crews and his wife, Eunice.

The family acknowledges a special thank you to Appomattox Health & Rehab for their care and concern of Charlie.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday September 3, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Larry Mann. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and VFW #9855 combined honor guard.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 PM today (Monday) and at other times at his home.
