Charles Edward Garrett, 66, of Appomattox, peacefully passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, surrounded by his wife and all of his children and grandchildren. He was the loving husband of Deborah Parshall Garrett for 27 years.
Born in Bedford, Va., March 13, 1958, he was a son of the late James Melvin Garrett and Estelle Sweeney Garrett and the late Margaret Vaughan Garrett. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandbabies. He was a part of the Appomattox Railroad Festival Committee for 36 years, the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years, and the Appomattox Volunteer Rescue Squad for two years. He also supported the Dixie Youth Softball Association.
Charles was a jack of all trades, active in mission trips, construction work and the Appomattox Waste Water System. He spent many years serving the Appomattox community, he never met a stranger and loved this town with his entire heart.
He leaves behind his wife Debbie Garrett; four daughters, Dana Evans and husband, Thomas, Christina Garrett, LeAnne Carter and husband, Matt and Nicole Cole and husband, Zak; 11 grandchildren, Madison, Brooklyn, Dylan, Sydney, Daniel Evans, Peyton Garrett, Trenton Colvin, Lacy Belcher, Dante, Seth and Selena Leclerc ; brothers-in-love, John and Kevin Harris and their families; sons he could never have, Tim Vaughan and wife, Tiffany and Craig Vaughan and wife, Jessica; father-in-law, Marvin Parshall, Sr.; brother-in-law, JR Parshall and wife, Pattie and their families; special cousin Teresa Cyrus Smith and husband, Bob; special family and lifelong friends, Wanda Doss and Bobby Jean Mullins; as well as his entire Evergreen Family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2024, at Evergreen Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Evergreen Baptist Church.
