Chalmers L. Raysor

Chalmers L. Raysor went to be with his Lord on Resurrection Sunday, March 23, 2008. He was born October 10, 1910, in Ocala, Florida and loved telling everyone his birth date was 10/10/10. He was born again at age seven when he trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
Mr. Raysor, Brother Raysor, or just plain Raysor, as he was variously known, loved God and people. He gave all credit and praise for his long life of health and energy to his Creator. Over the years he served as lay preacher, Sunday School teacher, and church soloist, as well as friend and advisor to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Roberta Raysor; a sister Hesther Raysor Eshman; three wives, Ethel Tillis Raysor, Fay Yeatts Raysor, and Edna Fitzgerald Raysor; and a daughter, Mildred Carolyn Raysor. They are all having a glorious reunion in Heaven.
He is survived by his son, Robert K. (Bobb) Raysor, and his wife Kay L. Raysor; his grandson, John K. Raysor, and his wife Sandra L. Raysor; three great-granddaughters, Brittany L. Raysor, Lindsey J. Raysor, and Celeste A. Raysor, all of Lynchburg; three step-daughters, Pat McCain, and her husband , Sonny, of Cleveland, SC, Pauline Hales, and her husband, Donnie, of Randleman, NC, and Lorna Dobson, and her husband, Ed, of Grand Rapids, MI; six step-grandchildren, David Hales, Janet Kressin, Bobby Hales, Kent Dobson, Heather Hammond, and Daniel Dobson.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Appomattox Health and Rehab, The Carrington, and Runk and Pratt Assisted Living who lovingly cared for Mr. Raysor the last several months; the doctors, nurses, and staff of Lynchburg General Hospital; Dr. David Smith and his caring staff; his faithful friends at Bible Baptist Church and Thomas Terrace Baptist Church, as well as his neighbors.
Mr. Raysor was a member of Bible Baptist Church, P. O. Box 2014, Appomattox, VA, 24522, and the family suggests those wishing to make memorial contributions consider his church.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 Monday evening, March 24, 2008, at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Robert E. Lee, 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Bible Baptist Church in Appomattox with burial to follow in Liberty Cemetery.
