Carolyn Nash Thompson, 74, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife for 49 years to Omar "Billy" Lewis Thompson.

She was born on August 4, 1949, in Appomattox County as the only child to the late Frank Jefferson Nash, Jr. and Mary "Jean" Moore Nash.  She was a graduate of Appomattox County High School. For many years she enjoyed Junior Woman's Club work and volunteering for her children's Parent-Teacher Association.  She loved camping with family and friends at Thousand Trails in Rustburg, was an avid crafter of beautiful wreaths, angel ornaments and treetop decorations.  She was a kind and caring person who always thought of and wanted to do for others. She was a loving mother and an incredibly proud grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband and mother, losing both within one year of each other. After this difficult year, she relocated to Runk and Pratt at Liberty Ridge Senior Living Community in Lynchburg where she thrived meeting new friends and enjoyed the community activities. Carolyn loved doing wreaths for many residents who decorated their doors with one of her beautiful creations.

She is survived by her daughter Angela Thompson Sutton and husband, Eric of Charlotte, NC; her son Rodney Lewis Thompson, and fiancé, Susan Leonhirth of Lynchburg; and two grandsons, Ryan Christopher Sutton and Reid Bradley Sutton.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday February 9, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Allen officiating. A private burial will be held at Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service at Robinson Funeral Home.
