Obituary
Carolyn Bailey Ford, 71, of Acorn Drive, Appomattox, died Monday, July 12, 2010. She was the wife of Paul F. Ford, Sr. for 56 years.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, on September 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Edward Gordon Bailey and Lilly Christine Litchford Alvis. Carolyn was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and retired from Thomasville Furniture.
In addition to her husband she is survived by five children, Lydia Ford, Paul Ford, Jr. and wife, Teresa of Lynchburg, Gordon Ford and wife, Cynthia of Appomattox, Joe Ford of New York, NY, and Pam F. Staton and husband, Tim of Appomattox; step-father, Richard Alvis, Sr. and wife, Sandy; sister, Judy Falls all of Lynchburg; brother, Richard Alvis of Appomattox; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 pm, Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home in Appomattox by the Rev. Ed Griffin. The family will receive friends and family following the service until 8:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
