Carolyn Jones Cheatham, 87, of Sugar Hill Road, Brookneal, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018. She was the wife of Daniel Washington Cheatham, Jr.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on February 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Hackett and Robert Aubrey Jones. She was a graduate of Greensboro College, a music teacher, a member of the Stonecroft Christian Women's Club, a longtime active member of Providence Baptist Church, and a member of the Gideons International Brookneal Camp Auxiliary. Carolyn served as an Arlington Lady for the Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force, at Arlington National Cemetery.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three sons, Daniel W. Cheatham, III and wife, Marilyn of Huntsville, Ala., R. Aubrey Cheatham and wife, Alecia of Brookneal, and Patrick L. Cheatham of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Raymond Cheatham.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Linda Sue Calloway for her loving care of Carolyn.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Curtis and the Rev. Andrew Cheatham. The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Aubrey, at 7933 Sugar Hill Road.
