Caroline Mann Franklin, 59, of Mt. Pleasant Rd., Chase City, died Monday, February 8, 2010, in Community Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Abdullah Bernes Franklin, Jr.
Born in Appomattox County, March 22, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Jack B. and Elizabeth Price Mann. Caroline was the manager of Melody Manor Nursing Home and a member of Bethel Bible Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by four children, Thomas Henry Franklin and his late wife, Shirley of Appomattox; Caroline Wright and husband, Kenneth of Lynchburg, Tammy Hite and her late husband, Hank of Chase City, and Rhonda Meade of Chase City; 12 grandchildren including a beloved granddaughter, Haley K. Franklin whom she raised as a daughter from infancy; a sister, Ann Mann and her late husband, Lee of Victoria; two brothers, Harry Mann and wife, Elsie of Appomattox and Jack B. Mann, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Michigan; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and numerous friends and extended family.
She was preceded in death by a son A. B. Franklin, III, grandson Lonnie Franklin, and a sister Clara B. Hall.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Richard Wilson. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Wednesday February 10, 2010, from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the home of Alice and J. D. Mann.
