Carlton Wayne Guill, 77, of Appomattox, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Eva Tolley Guill for 51 Years.
Carlton was born March 3, 1936 in Appomattox, Virginia to the late Nettie Torricelli and Harry Wilson Guill. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and was a dedicated employee of the Farmers Bank of Appomattox, a job he loved and rarely missed. Carlton also spent many years owning and operating an Appomattox staple, Guill's Market, otherwise known as No.2.
In addition to his wife, Carlton is survived by two daughters, Sharon Guill Womack and her husband Alan of Lynchburg; and Valerie Guill Blevins and her husband, Steve of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren: Greta Brown and her husband, Jeremy, Jamerson Bryant, Seth Blevins and Lydia Blevins; five great-grandchildren: Carson, Hunter, Alexis, Caden and Adam (all of whom he was so proud). Also, surviving are three brothers: H. Ottoway Guill and his wife, Barbara,
Freddie A. Guill, and J. Richard and his wife, Peggy, all of Appomattox;
one sister, Marilyn Scruggs and her husband, Warren of Concord; three sister-in-laws, Elsie Edwards, Nancy Millner and Patsy McGroarty and her husband, Jim, all of Richmond, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Carlton's life will be held on Monday, July 8, at 11:00 am at Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Gene Beverly with burial to follow in Liberty Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, from 3:00 until 5:00 pm at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
