Obituary
Carl Boyd Murphy, Jr., of Police Tower Rd., Appomattox, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He and his wife, the former Catherine Erickson, shared their lives together for 63 years.
Born in Camden, New Jersey, on November 27, 1930, he was a son of the late Claire Piot and Carl Boyd Murphy, Sr. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, served his country as a member of the US Navy, and was a retired factory representative for Ford Motor Co.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, Carl B. Murphy, III and Catherine C. Murphy both of Appomattox and two grandchildren, Antonio Camporeale and Isabella Camporeale.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church by Father Jim Gallagher. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
