Carl Ernest Hilbers, 89, of Red House, VA and formerly of Washington Twp., NJ, died May 9, 2007 in the Privette Home, Lynchburg, VA.
Born in Washington, NJ, June 18, 1917, he was the son of the late Fredrick D. and Karen Stienmann Hilbers. Carl served his country during WW II as a member of the US Coast Guard. He was a lifetime member of the Moose, a member of the Carpenters Union local #399, and attended Union Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Virginia B. Hilbers and a sister, May H. Williams.
Carl is survived by four children, their spouses and 11 grandchildren, Carolyn and John Cutsinger of Englewood, FL and their children, Gary Pysher, Brian Pysher and wife, Merrilyn, and Susan McKellin and husband, Keith all of Bethlehem, PA; Carl Jr. and Sharon Hilbers of Englewood, FL and their children, Stacy Tracy and husband, Gabe of Englewood, FL and J. P. Tyman of Hackettstown, NJ; Shirley and Paul Fortin of Bluffton, SC and their children, Gwen Weaver of Washington, DC, Jennifer Parker and husband, Scott of Orlando, FL, Stephanie Fortin of Charleston, SC, and David Fortin of Waynesboro, VA; and Richard and Donna Hilbers of Red House, VA and their children, Kylleigh Hilbers of Appomattox, VA and Justin Hilbers and his wife, Kathy of Pamplin, VA; six great grandchildren, Hailey, Josh, Brianna, Ryan, Lexi, and Mikaylah; and two sisters, Helen H. Bachman and Margaret (Trixie) H. Evans both of Sarasota, FL.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Robinson Funeral Home with burial following in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home of Richard and Donna Hilbers.
