Obituary

Clyde Eugene "Tom Dooley" Ferguson, Sr., 57, of Eldon Road, Appomattox, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Pam Taylor Ferguson.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on December 10, 1958, he was a son of the late Eula Ayers and Wilson Ryland Ferguson. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Erica (Brad) Lyons of Appomattox, Clyde E. "Buck" (Kandi) Ferguson of Spout Spring , and Timothy R. (Jessi) Ferguson of Pamplin; a special niece whom he considered as a daughter, Kathy (Jimbell) Harris; two children he took into his family as his own, Vada Kidd and Brian Henderson; 16 grandchildren, Christopher, Alexus, Kaitlin, Jamie, Nicholas, Justin, Dylan, Wyatt, Gage, Wilson, Sara, Emma, Tucker, Dalton, Madison, and Whitney; two great-grandsons, Grayson and Lawson; three sisters, Rena Litchford of Gladstone, Verna Wood of Appomattox, and Marie (Tommy) Hensely of Pamplin; brothers-in-law, Floyd "Little Man" McCormick, Jackie Mann, Bruce Eldridge, and Donald Fitze; sisters-in-law, Linda Fitze, Faye (Smiley) Bryant, Regina Eldridge, Connie Baldwin, and Juanita (Duke) Litchford; nieces and nephews, Lawrence, Carolyn, Jackie, Pansy, Mark, Kathy, Brenda, Junior, J. W., Richard, Tutt, Brian, Cindy, Roger, T. C., Kelly, Donnie, Sandy, Stephanie, Carol, Angie, Felicia, Carrie, Collin, Bryce, Davey, and Tiffany; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Shelly and Tommy Bryant, Bev Davidson, and Carol Mann. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah (Lawrence) Woody, Joyce McCormick, and Nita Mann; a brother, Frank Ferguson; three brothers-in-law, Roy Wood, Sr., Clyde Litchford, Sr. and Barry Baldwin; his mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Junior Taylor; and nieces and nephews, Roy Jr., Reat, Chris, and Regina.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Robinson Funeral Home by Rev. Carlton Duck. Burial will follow in Glory Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
