Burnice "Buddy" Adkins, 86, of Appomattox, died Friday, October 28, 2022.  He was a son of the late Florence Parker and Ocie Adkins.

Born in Pittsylvania County, January 29, 1936, Buddy went to school in Callands and grew up on a Bright tobacco farm in Climax, VA.  After leaving the farm Buddy did some carpentry work, and then went to work at VDOT in New London as an equipment operator.  He retired after many years of service.

In addition to his wife, Vivian L. Adkins, he is survived by one daughter, Karen Adkins Russell and husband, Bud; two stepchildren, Leonard R. Sligh and wife, Leslie and Brenda S. Burnstein and husband, Paul; three grandchildren, Robert "Trey" Russell, III and wife Hannah, Lynette Russell and fiancé, Charlie, and Ryleigh Russell and fiancé, Kris; one great-granddaughter, Parker May Russell; numerous step grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Verna Adkins Walden Cottrell and Bernelle Adkins Moon; and two stepsons, Donald Wayne Sligh and Kenny Sligh.

A private family graveside will be held at the Adkins Family Cemetery.
