Burley Braxton Harris, Jr., 74, of Tater Patch Road, Appomattox, died Tuesday June 10, 2014 at Centra Specialty Hospital in Lynchburg. He was the husband of the late Wanda Sue Jamerson Harris.

Burley was born July 2, 1939 a son of the late Marietta Elizabeth Dunn Harris and Burley B. Harris, Sr. He was a retired supervisor for the Virginia Department of Transportation with 30 years of service and a member of Rocks Baptist Church.

Burley is survived by his daughter, Marissa Harris Fleshman and husband, L.D. of Appomattox; two grandsons, Brandon and Adam Fleshman; a brother, Robert Gene Harris, two sisters, Peggy H. Lewis and Marilyn H. Harris all of Appomattox and Gerran Hinds whom he thought of as family.

He was preceded by a sister, Joyce H. Rosen.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday June 12, 2014 in Rocks Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Rick Painter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 PM Wednesday June 11, 2014.
