Obituary
Bruce Lyle McFadden, 78, of Gladstone, died Monday, August 18, 2008, in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Eliza Gowen McFadden.
Born in Nelson Co., December 29, 1929, he was a son of the late Otha and Mary Alice Jennings McFadden. Bruce was a retired brakeman for the C & O Railroad and an Army paratrooper during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, William A. McFadden of Chesterfield, Bruce L. McFadden, Jr. of Amelia, Robert A. McFadden of Bedford; six daughters, Mary M. Stocks, Deborah Clary both of Chesterfield, Barbara Dickinson of Powhatan, Bernadette Melton of Varina, Judy Seckman of VA Beach, Phyllis Nichols of Richmond; two brothers, Shirley T. McFadden of CA, James McFadden of Lynchburg; three sisters, Elsie Price of Rustburg, Anna Dixon of Appomattox, Ella Baldock of Altavista; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Caroline Woody.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2008, in Gladstone Cemetery by the Rev. J. D. Mayberry.
