Edna Bolling Conner Carter, 87, of Trent Hatchery Road, Appomattox, passed away, Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Richard Burke Carter, Sr., for 62 years.
Born in Appomattox County, June 28, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Dora Abbitt and Lacy Evrod Conner. Bolling was a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church. Bolling was ordained and began serving as a Deacon in 2008. She received her Bachelor's degree from William and Mary where she was Phi Beta Kappa and received her Master's degree from Lynchburg College.
She is survived by one son, R.B. Carter, Jr and wife, Brenda of Lynchburg; a daughter, Beth Bertenshaw and husband, Steve of Manchester, U.K.; one sister, Ottie C. Huddleston and husband, Gary of Appomattox; two grandchildren, Emily Carter and Anna Carter; loving friend and constant companion Annette Carter.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2017 at Grace Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Tyler officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m., until the time of service.
