Appomattox: Billy Eugene Sperry, of Rt. 4 , died Sunday March 5, 2006 at his residence. Born May 30, 1930 in Texas, he was a son of the late John Franklin and Stella Katie Porter Sperry. Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Lillie Thornhill Sperry.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law John and "Nanny" Sperry of Appomattox; a daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Ed Harrup of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, John and Adam Sperry of Appomattox; Bryan Harrup of Madison Heights and Katie Gillette and husband Michael of Bel Air , MD; two great grandchildren Owen and Chase Gillette.
Mr. Sperry was a member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church and a former member of the Appomattox Rescue Squad. He was a Navy Veteran and retired in 1990 as a U.S. Postal Rural Mail Carrier.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 11:00 am at Liberty Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. George Kriedel.
Billy requested not to have a family night at the funeral home.
