Beverly was the heart of the family, a friend to all and a blessing to those who knew and loved her. She loved nothing more than sitting on her porch on Sunday afternoons visiting with her family. Beverly enjoyed her books, her flowers, her two cats and watching her beloved wild geese on the pond. In later years one could find her most days working in her yard; but most of all, her favorite thing was going to Yard and Estate sales, having lunch at Wendy's with her son, John and seeing so many of her friends.
She was not only a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother she also gave so much of herself to her neighbors and friends.
Beverly made an impression on so many in her small community through her love of God. She was a lifetime member of Liberty Chapel Baptist Church. She was a mentor and friend to her many store customers and loved helping others.
She and the love of her life, Malcolm, owned and operated Beverly Hills Antique and Country Store on Rt. 60 near Bent Creek for 47 years where friends, neighbors and customers were warmly welcomed and made many happy memories looking at and buying her treasures. Her advice on and knowledge of antiques provided an encyclopedia for many. The store became an institution of sorts where many who traveled Rt. 60 returned time and again to stop and visit with Beverly and to warm up by their renowned "pot-bellied" wood stove.
A funeral service will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Brad Childres. A private burial will follow in the Booker Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, May 5, 2017 and at other times at Longacre Bed and Breakfast.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her devoted and loving day nurse, Carolyn Baldwin and her wonderful hospice nurses, Diann, Patti, and Cheryl.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Liberty Chapel Baptist Church, c/o Charles Morgan, 2397 Oakleigh Ave., Appomattox, VA 24522.
