Betty Jennings Shupe, 77, of Appomattox died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late M. C. Shupe.
Born in Lynchburg, on December 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Claude Emory Jennings and the late Gertrude Wooten Jennings Olesh. Betty retired as a bus drive for the Appomattox School System after 37 years service and was a member of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by four sons, Larry Franklin and wife, Debbie of Amherst, Edward Franklin, Dennis Franklin both of Appomattox, and Mark Franklin and wife, Janet of Spout Spring; the father of her four sons, Clarence Franklin; four step-children; three sisters, Alice Layne and her husband, William of Spout Spring, Claudine Horn and husband, Johnnie of Concord, and Martha J. Moore of Gladstone; six grandchildren, Justin, Johnathon, Hollie , and Matthew Franklin, Leslie Woolridge and Sarah Irvin; two great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care they gave to Betty.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Paul Kvasnicka with burial following in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Thursday, Nov. 18, from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her son, Mark, 904 Tanglewood Rd., Spout Spring.
