Obituary
Betty Jean Phelps, 67, of Brookneal, died August 23, 2010, in the Medical Care Center. She was the wife of the late David D. Phelps.
Born in Prince Edward County, on September 5, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Walter C. Hamlett and Lottie Pearl Nash Hamlett. She was a member of Springfield Primitive Baptist and a former employee of Aileen's.
She is survived by five step-children, Mike, Kevin, Keith, Tammy and Brenda; three sisters, Joyce Ann Harris and her husband Garland of Evington, Jannie M. Sapp of Chester, and Dorothy H. Foster and husband William of Phenix; two brothers, Herbert Hamlett and wife, Jeanette of Appomattox and John Henry Hamlett and wife, Jane of Windsor; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hamlett.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie A. Leftwich and her twin brother, Walter C. Hamlett, Jr.
Graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday in the Hamlett Family Cemetery, Vincent Store Rd., Charlotte County by the Rev. Elton McDowell.
