Betty McFadden Lucado, 84, of Appomattox, went to be with her Lord on February 27, 2026.
Born on November 10, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Herbert and Edith Ferguson McFadden.
For 65 years, Betty was the devoted wife of the late Clinton Wayne Lucado. Theirs was a partnership built on a foundation of faith and family—a bond so strong that they even shared their final days together at Fairmont Crossing in Amherst.
A lifelong member of Red Oak Baptist Church, Betty’s faith was the quiet heartbeat of her life. Many in Appomattox will remember her as a friendly, familiar face from her years as a manager at the local Food World, Harris Teeter, and Kroger. She had a gift for making neighbors feel like friends. In retirement, she found her greatest joy within the walls of her own home, cherishing quiet moments with Clinton and pouring her love into her four adored grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Dwayne Lucado and his wife, Debra, of Westminster, MD, and Robert "Bobby" Lucado and his wife, Michelle, of Lovingston, VA; four grandchildren who were the light of her life: Evelyn, Isabella, Amelia, Carson and wife, Candace, and her sister, Patricia Elliott and her husband, Cleve.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clinton; her sister, Faye Mayberry; and seven brothers: Royal, Joe, Bill, Buster, Bob, Herbert Lee, and Herbert Allen McFadden.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Fairmont Crossing for the exceptional and tender care provided to both Betty and Clinton.
A funeral service will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Red Oak Baptist Church with Pastor Bud Reid officiating.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Red Oak Baptist Church, c/o Lisa Reid, 373 Oakleigh Ave, Appomattox, VA 24522.
