Betty Gowin Lewis, 87, of Appomattox, died, Saturday, December 9, 2023.  She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Lewis.

Born January 18, 1936, in Appomattox, she was a daughter of the late Lucy Ann Franklin and Richard Ayers Gowin.  Betty was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a former employee with Amelia Garment Manufacturing Company and retired from Ericsson/ G.E., as a shipping clerk.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Warren Lewis of Appomattox; brother-in-law, Gwynn Pruett of Mechanicsville; and two sisters-in-law, Peggy Lewis and Rosie Lewis-Hart.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Henderson Gowin, Wilson Gowin, James Gowin, Major Gowin and Earl Gowin; and four sisters, Mary O'Brien, Lula Almond, Evelyn Pruett and Ruby Paulette.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Gunter officiating.  Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home.
