Betty Mayberry Dotson, 70, of Appomattox, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She was the loving wife of Alfred Dotson, Sr.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 8 children, Victoria, Wade, Pam, Crystal, Billy, Ashton, Thomas, and Terry; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on July 6, 1954, she was the youngest and "the favorite" child of the late Mary Odell Reed Mayberry and Floyd Twyman Mayberry. She was a member of Amazing Grace Ministries in Lynchburg and retired as a Deputy Sheriff from the Appomattox County Sheriff's Department. Betty had a green thumb, sharing her love of flowers with her sister, Mary Lee and her niece, Teresa.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe Jesse Mayberry, H. Twyman Mayberry, J. D. Mayberry, and Allen "Pokey" Mayberry, and three sisters, Mary Lee McGatha, Gloria Jean Caldwell, and Mildred Sherlin.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Amazing Grace Ministries, Middlesex Ave, Lynchburg. The family will receive friends starting at 1 pm until the time of service.
