Betty Reid Cole, 70, of Appomattox died on March 3, 2022, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Byron Benjamin Cole, Jr.

Born on May 4, 1951, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late David Collie Reid and Verneader Britton Reid. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Benjamin Cole and wife, Kelly of Appomattox; a daughter, Karen Chidester and husband, Bill of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Laya Chidester, Nathan Cole, Lauren Cole, and Griffin Cole; a sister, Barbara R. Lewis and husband, John of Concord; a niece, Anita Osborne and husband, Daniel; a nephew, Brad Lewis and wife, Janelle; and a sister-in-law, Marsha Reid of Kansas City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by a brother, David C. Reid, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Rusty Small officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior (1 p.m.) to the service.
