Obituary

Betty Jean Clift Armstrong, 91, of Appomattox, died Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She was the loving wife of Kenneth T. "Skeeter" Armstrong.

Born in Alexandria, VA, on February 6, 1934, she was the last of 13 children born to the late George Washington Clift and Elsie Kraft Clift. She retired from the Department of Navy and was a member of Appomattox United Methodist Church. Betty loved to watch her birds and was an avid scrabble and bridge player.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Christine Ault and husband, Stephen; three grandchildren, Deanna Diehl and husband, James, David Eagan and wife, Gemelle, and Timothy Lloyd and wife, Sarah; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob Diehl, Jospeh Diehl, Gabriel Fisher-Diehl, Willow Eagan, and Camden Lippy.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Lloyd and a son, David Lawrence Davis.

A memorial service officiated by Rev. David Drinkard will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Appomattox United Methodist Church, 175 Old Courthouse Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522.
