Betty Moore Almond, 63, of Walkers Ford Road, Concord, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of Roger Lee Almond for 33 years.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., on November 23, 1953, she was a daughter of Colena Drinkard Moore of Concord and the late John Patterson Moore. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired after 36 years from Thomasville Furniture. Betty loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed cooking, gardening, the outdoors, and spending time with her pets, Abby and Murphy.
In addition to her husband and mother she is survived by two sons, Mike Henderson and fiancée, Donna Sayre and Devin Almond and wife, Kelsey all of Appomattox; two grandchildren, Justin Henderson and Kollyns Almond; two brothers, Jerry A. Moore and Jimmy P. Moore and wife, Linda both of Concord; mother-in-law, Nancy F. Almond; special friends who were like sisters, Verna Knight, Joan Jamerson, and Denise Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Centra Hospice for their care of Betty.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Mann.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4901 Oakville Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522.
