Bessie "Bess" Christian Thompson, 93, formerly of Appomattox, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in Roper St. Francis Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was the wife of the late Harold E. Thompson, Jr.

Born on December 20, 1919, and raised at "Mountain View" in the Vera Community of Appomattox Co., she was a daughter of the late Bessie Stratton and Dr. David Alexander Christian, II. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and Oakview Garden Club while living in Fairfax, Va. Upon moving to Mt. Pleasant, SC, she joined East Cooper Baptist. She was a graduate of Appomattox High School and Randolph Macon Woman's College.

She is survived by one son, Bruce Everett Thompson and wife Karen, Mt. Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Sue Ann Kraus and husband Harold, Cincinnati, OH and Martha T. Williams and husband Steve, Mt. Pleasant, SC.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes Virginia Koos, Tangent, OR, Catherine Byerly, Fernandina Beach, FL, and Joice C. Cox, Swansea, MA., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was one sister, Mildred C. Harris, and four brothers, Chesley Stratton Christian, Dr. David A. Christian, III, William Albert Christian and Charles Edwin Christian.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Walker with burial following in the Christian Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, Friday, at Robinson Funeral Home.
