Bess G. Ranson

Bess Gilliam Ranson, 89, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and aunt, died Saturday morning, March 11, 2006 in Medical Care Center.
Born January 4, 1917 in Appomattox Co. she was a member of College Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, Charlie Calvin Ranson and parents, Willie Connie Gilliam and Eliza Frances Gills Gilliam, she was preceded in death by a much loved grandson, Andrew Christian Wilks; two brothers, Lee Edward Gilliam and Harry Watts Gilliam, along with three sisters, Wilsie Allen Bruce, Mary Elder and Cora Lee Babcock.
She is survived by her two children, Charlie Goodman Ranson and his wife, Beverly, Pamplin, and Carolyn R. Wilks and her husband, David, Goode; two brothers, Dabney Gilliam, Halifax, W.C. Gilliam and his wife, Nellie, Lynchburg; two sisters-in-law, Gladys R. Anderson, Appomattox and Hilda D. Gilliam, New Port News ; six grandchildren, C. Craig Ranson and his wife, Dana, Christopher G. Ranson and his wife, Melanie, Amy E. Ranson and her fiancée Nathan Risdal, Chad G. Ranson, Jon D. Wilks and his wife, Sarai, and Kelly B. Keller and her husband Andrew; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob C. Ranson, C. Charles Ranson, Jr., James S. Ranson, Abby C. Ranson, Leslie Ann Wilks, Jon David Wilks, Matthew Christian Keller, Kathryn Grace Keller, and Abigail Noelle Keller.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 Monday, March 13, 2006 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Jones Officiating. The Committal Service will follow at 1:00 PM in Ft. Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 PM today (Sunday).
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in their mother's memory be made to the Andy's Light and The Andy Bear Program, c/o Brookhill Wesleyn Church, 1043 Cifax Rd., Forest, VA 24551.
