Bertha Torrence Dickerson, 89, of Michaux Lane and formerly of Pamplin, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Christopher Edward Dickerson.
Born in Appomattox County, October 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Lucy Chenault Torrence. She was a member of Elon Baptist Church where for many years she taught Sunday school, worked in the nursery and was involved in the WMU. Bertha managed the Pamplin School Cafeteria until it's closing and the Appomattox County High School Cafeteria until her retirement.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann D. and Mike Williams of Richmond and Fay D. and Eugene Sams of Pamplin; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Poe and husband, Barry, Robert Steele, Monica Sleboda and husband, John, Chris Sams and wife, Donna, Jason Sams and wife, Beth, Shanon Sams and David Williams and wife, Suzanne.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday in Pamplin Community Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Tyree.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Thursday from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the home of Fay Sams.
